a hike a weekend

Recently Jesse and I have been trying to make more of a point to be more active.  While I am relatively active on a day-to-day basis, Jesse is not since he works in an office at a desk all day.  But due to our love for the outdoors, we decided at the beginning of the year that we would do one hike each weekend.  Of course, life gets in the way and things happen so we've not nearly done as many hikes as we should have, but opening our minds up to the initial idea has caused us to explore new trails near us.

We've been blessed - and I say blessed because we need it - with a bout of overcast and rainy days over the last few months and I have to admit the change in weather is something I absolutely love.  On one of those beautiful cloudy weekends, Jesse and I set out to explore a trail known as "the wisdom tree" located in the Hollywood Hills above the reservoir.  The trail also connects with the infamous Hollywood sign trail.  Since it had been a few years since we'd been up there, we decided to catch a view of the sign with the moody weather.

It seemed like spring was just dawning on us and all the flowers were blanketing the hills.  I know I've posted a bit extensively recently about our blooms, but flowers seemingly have faces to me.  It feels like they are smiling back at me as I make my way along the path.  I can't help but stop to photograph all of them.  Naturally this makes me a nightmare to hike with, but Jesse is far used to it by now :)

In typical Los Angeles fashion, the sun came out towards the latter part of the day, exposing the blooming bougainvillea throughout the neighborhood.  How gorgeous are these colors?
